Logistics Curriculum
General Information
1.History:
- The Logistics Program at Iğdır University was established to meet the need for qualified intermediate staff in the international trade and transportation sectors.
- The program began its educational activities in the 2012-2013 academic year to ensure that students stay informed about current developments in the logistics sector.
- The department offers a curriculum that combines theoretical and practical education, aiming to provide students with industry experience through collaborations with the business world.
2. Department Program Outcomes:
- The ability to plan, execute, and evaluate logistics processes.
- The ability to analyze in the fields of supply chain management and transportation.
- Proficiency in using modern technologies in logistics operations.
- The ability to understand and apply national and international trade law.
- The ability to develop teamwork and communication skills, and possess leadership qualities.
- The ability to act with professional ethics and social responsibility awareness.
3. Language / Type of Education:
- Language of Instruction: Turkish
- Program Type: Associate Degree (2-year).
- In addition to theoretical courses, students gain practical experience through elective 3+1 work placement programs and optional internship programs.
4. Infrastructure Facilities:
- Educational facilities equipped with modern classrooms and computer laboratories.
- Seminars, certification programs, and workshops organized in collaboration with the industry.
- Course content enriched with logistics simulations and case studies to provide students with practical experience.
- Facilities such as a gym, library, and student clubs within the campus that offer social and cultural opportunities for students.

Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Provides students the opportunity to obtain a bachelor's degree in another field of interest alongside their primary program. In this program, students complete courses from two different departments and graduate with diplomas in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a specific number of courses in another field of interest outside their primary program. Students who complete the minor program receive an official certificate in that field; however, it does not equate to a second bachelor's degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.

Purpose / Objectives of the Department / Program:
There are various career opportunities in logistics management, which may vary depending on the sector. However, the following positions are typically prominent:
- Logistics Manager / Director: A senior-level position that oversees all logistics operations. Those in this role manage the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire logistics process.
- Supply Chain Manager: A professional who plans and manages all processes in the supply chain. This position involves managing suppliers, ensuring the flow of materials, and making demand forecasts.
- Distribution and Warehouse Manager: This role supervises the entire process of storing and shipping products. Professionals in this area manage storage spaces and ensure efficient transportation processes.
- Transportation Coordinator: A professional who coordinates the transportation and shipment processes. They determine shipping routes, logistics vehicles, and transport methods to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- International Logistics Specialist: An expert who handles global supply chains and manages import/export processes. They work with customs clearance, international shipping, and compliance procedures.
